The exhibition is part of a comprehensive series around the exploration of the imaginary White Planet, which is said to be a kind of origin, storage of all information, common organ as well as a projection surface for different ideas concerning our future. The central examination device of this series is the space station M.I.S.S. – MY INTERN(ATION)AL SPACE STATION, which circles around the White Planet in its orbital field. In its research, the M.I.S.S. crew has recently come across the WHITE PLANET PARADOX that proves the simultaneous existence of the White Planet in both the outer and the inner space of its observers. Devoted to this research focus titled “THE WHITE PLANET PARADOX”, two new modules of the M.I.S.S. are now opening its portals to visitors. These modules are accompanied by photographic tableaux, offering insights into the rooms of the mother station M.I.S.S. and the presence of its crew.
Stephanie Winter explores in her work psychological landscapes, inner spaces and relates those to various problemsaround ideological world views, individual as well as global visions, structures of authority, system errors and surveillance, psychological disruptions and affects, cosmos, space, time and identity. Within her artistic practice she ties together conceptual approaches and process oriented work methods thus creating multilayered narratives by means of performative installations, films, drawings, objects and photographs.

Stephanie Winter is founder and artistic director of the experimental performance and production platform Salon Hybrid, which uses vacant or peculiar and unusual spaces to present the performative installation-series PARAPRAXIS. The title PARAPRAXIS refers to the scientific term for Freudian slip and should not only be perceived as mistake, but also as the practice of taking on peculiar perspectives and exploring topics between science and art within a Simulacrum – a meta-world. Designed as an accessible and experienceable film set, performative parcours and experimental laboratory, PARAPRAXIS cooperates with the audience to draft parallel worlds focusing on varying topics.
From 2013 to 2016 SALON HYBRID has produced five versions of PARAPRAXIS (I–V). In 2014 SALON HYBRID used the former youth prison Rüdigergasse in Vienna as performance space and explored questions surrounding society, surveillance, punishment and guilt – dark matter and the human abyss. After that the wish emerged to turn towards the positive potential of the future. In her new project M.I.S.S. – My Intern(ation)al Space Station SALON HYBRID transformed an old key factory in the 12th district of Vienna into a space station, where the visitors are asked to search for their personal wishes, visions and potential.
In the fall of 2016 the book “Parapraxis – Im Felde des Fehlers / In the Realm of Error” produced by SALON HYBRID was published at Revolver Publishing, Berlin.
